The Service is going to internally restructure the Patient Transport Service. The Service will move 30 locally based offices into its three Emergency Medical Dispatch Centres, which are based in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness, over three years. This will mean:
- moving and retraining staff
- providing a new single Free phone telephone number for the Patient Transport Service
- working with other Health Boards to promote the new Patient Transport Service booking point
- working more closely with other health and social care transport providers, e.g. Local Authorities, the voluntary sector and Regional Transport Agencies, to provide information on other non clinical transport which can get patients to their hospital appointments
