Annual assessment 2012

The Scottish Ambulance Service is holding a series of meetings to discuss our Patient Focus Public Involvement (PFPI) Self Assessment.  The purpose of the meeting, background to the assessment process and format of the day are summarised for you below.

Purpose of this meeting

The purpose of this meeting is to invite members of the public to participate in the Scottish Ambulance Service’s Patient Involvement Self- Assessment Process.

How does the Assessment process work?

The Participation Standard
In 2011 the Scottish Ambulance Service produced their first Participation Standard self assessment report for 2010/2011. The Standard covers three aspects of participation:

  • Patient Focus - care and services are provided in partnership with patients, treating individuals with dignity and respect, and are responsive to age, disability, gender, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation and transgender status.
  • Public Involvement - there is supported and effective involvement of people in service planning and improvement.
  • Governance - robust corporate governance arrangements are in place for involving people, founded on mutuality, equality, diversity and human rights principles

This year the self assessment requires the Service to report against the action plan which was agreed after the Participation Standard. At the meetings the Service will update people on our progress, new initiatives and our next steps.
